Coalition of Families, Veterans, and Seniors Applauds Senator Wyden's Leadership on CBD Regulation as a Dietary Supplement

Will continue to support a bipartisan effort that ‘gets the job done right’

WASHINGTON – The Coalition for Access Now – the leading advocate for ensuring access to quality and consistent Cannabidiol (CBD) products for mothers, caregivers, veterans, athletes, and more who rely on CBD – applauds U.S. Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) for his introduction of The Cannabinoid Safety and Regulation Act.

"This is a very positive and long overdue step toward ensuring lasting and reliable CBD access for the 45 million Americans with pain, seizures, depression, autism, and other challenges, who rely on the benefits of CBD every day,"  said Paige Figi, pioneer CBD mother and Executive Director of the Coalition for Access Now. "Our coalition of mothers, veterans, and more applaud Senator Wyden's leadership in pushing for FDA regulation of CBD as a dietary supplement, and we will continue to work to support a bipartisan effort that gets the job done right."

The Cannabinoid Safety and Regulation Act establishes a federal regulatory framework for hemp-derived cannabinoid products, aiming to protect public health and those who rely on CBD products for survival while preventing access to children. The Act mandates age restrictions, manufacturing and testing standards, truth-in-labeling requirements, and prohibits dangerous chemicals and synthetic cannabinoids. It requires producers to register with the FDA and comply with stringent testing for intoxicating additives. While setting a federal baseline, the legislation allows states to enforce additional regulations and taxes.

Since the national legalization of hemp products under the 2018 Farm Bill, the Coalition for Access Now has been actively collaborating with Congress members and stakeholders to advocate for comprehensive federal regulation.

About the Coalition for Access Now

The work of Paige and the mothers in the Coalition for Access Now led to the passage of Cannabidiol (CBD) access laws in all 50 states. The Coalition convenes medical providers, veterans, athletes, and businesses to drive public awareness and achievable solutions for ensuring access to quality and consistent CBD products.
